Welcome to America's British Reliability Run!

Want to drive your vintage British car and help raise money to help children battling disease or coping with blindness? Then register to take part in the fifth annual America's British Reliability Run. Don't have a car or live to far away to participate? That's OK, you can still support our effort by making a donation, however small, to this year's children's charity.

In 2007 we raised more than $26,000 for children coping with blindness and kids battling terminal illnesses, now we're at it again, and even better! On September 27 & 28, 2008, up to 150 vintage British cars will depart from locations in three different States for demanding 800-mile drives in their vintage British cars to raise money for children's charities.

The runs, collectively known as "America's British Reliability Run," is an endurance run of sorts, and it always benefits children. The event is based loosely on several events held each year in Britain with the same goal: to help a worthy children's charity and have fun while doing so.

This year, we're dedicated to helping two very highly rated and worthwhile charities: (charites TBA).

This year's runs features some of the country's best roads on which to drive a sportscar. In fact, both Automobile Magazine and Car and Driver test cars for review on these very roads! It's not a race, it's merely a test of the drivability of our old cars.

Goal for the Teams

Each team's goal is to raise $500 to help this year's partner charity continue their mission. It's through fundraising efforts such as this that those kids are able to get to camp. We've raised more than $100,000 to help kids battling diseases such as cancer, diabetes and hemophilia. This year we're hoping to add $60,000 to that running total by having two runs on the same weekend in different parts of the country.

A Word About Our Cars

I'll speak of Triumphs since that is the marque I am familiar with. Triumph production ceased in the early eighties, so the majority of cars will be over 25 years old. Despite the venerability of the vehicles, most get around with little difficulty and a typical drop out rate is just one or two vehicles per run. In last year's run, every car but one completed the run, and that one car broke down within ten miles of the finish! Perhaps this is not surprising as most cars are kept maintained to a high standard and have the benefit of being much easier to fix at the roadside than their modern counterparts.
